Music is Forever . . .

I love music.  It heals my soul.  I am teaching myself to play piano.  I did take lessons for a while but I got tired of the weekly grind of it.  So now I play and practice when I want to.  That's how I like to do things. . . . when I want to!

So this joke is pretty funny to me!

I've Been Everywhere Man . . . (well, almost)

Kennybunk Port, Maine

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS COUNTRY!

I love Maine.  I have always loved Maine since I was a little girl, and than in my early adult years I would take my kiddo's camping in Maine.  Just love Maine!

This is a small cabin we rented while visiting the Great State!  Just down the road from Kennybunk Port.

When in Maine you MUST have their wonderful, fresh lobster.  Oh my, there is nothing like it!

View at dusk of Old Orchard Beach.

A little former President Bush humor!

F.U.N.

Since I love lighthouses (because they guided lost ships to safety) oh course we had to visit one.

That's all folks!

Handmade (Homemade) Purses . . . .

Handmade Purses

These purses are made from a simple purse pattern that you can pick up any place that sells fabric.  I used fabric from Hobby Lobby because they had a selection that most reminded me of Vera Bradley patterns.

I quilted eash section BEFORE sewing it together with its matching piece.  I also attached magnetic closure snaps that I also got at Hobby Lobby.   Each purse is lined with a funky aminal print.

These were fun to do!

oh oh oh I even put a cell phone pocket on the inside!  Too cool!

Another Quilt

I just love making quilts.  I am not sure why exactly.
I mean really - honestly - how many quilts can one person have?
But this year I made hmmm maybe about 11 quilts - finished quilts!  I have been
quilting since 1990 so you do the math!

Some of them I pass on to friends.  Family has definately received more than they ever wanted!  And now my collection continues to grow!

Here's my latest one.  It is a scrappy quilt.  Some quilters call it a crazy quilt.  It has scrap fabrics from many of the quilts and purses I made for my granddaughters, and a few scrapes from just quilts I made for myself.

Here it is!

It is very cheerful and colorful!  Another of my quilts that I must say I just love!

Needle Felting Book Cover Finished!

From my September 3rd post - here again it the front cover of my Needle Felting book cover.

I decided that before stitching a decorative edge around the front of the cover, maybe it would be nice to line the inside - let's see . . .

I found this piece of beautiful wool at my local quilt shop.  I loved the color contrast, so I was willing to give it a try.  I measured, cut, and pinned the lining (wool piece) to the front cover.

I then decided that I would prefer the blanket embroidery stitch.  I used multi-colored silk floss (3 strands for strength) and began my blanket stitching around all four edges.   Remember that you leave a long end of floss at the first stitch and then weave it into or knot to secure.

Here is a look at the finished cover.  Inside and outside.  I am very pleased with the appearance.

Next, I will need to add the paper.  I have measure, cut, folded and punched holes with a book binding ale into my chosen paper.  I am ready with my waxed linen bookbinding thread and begin to sew the pieces into place.   Measure one inch for the tail of your thread and then measure three times the length of your paper page to determine how much thread you will need.   Once again, with the first stitch leave a tail so that you will be able to tie it off at the finish.

I then decided to add ribbon because I did not want the appearance of the sewn binding on my book cover on the inside or outside.  I attached the ribbon on the inside with some double sided tape just to keep it in place.  It's okey if late the tape releases itself (a break down of the glue) because the ribbon will be fixed on the outside of the binding.   On the outside side, I did a couple of random tack type stitches (ribbon to cover) to keep the ribbon in place.

Here is the finished book cover.  I am pleased with this project.  I really like Needle Felting and I am going to start writing and sketching immediately into my new book!

Joy!

Let's Give Them Something to Talk About

My Movie Critique

Movies I Love to Share

Not so much this one!  1 Star!  Yup, just 1

My monthly movie group said this was a must see.  I missed movie day but decided to watch it last night on Comcast.  I struggled to sit still, squirming, wiggling, getting up and down from my comfy chair.  Yeah, and you know I love Jane Austen but this one  . . . . not so much.

Reiki . . .

Just a reminder - Energy Healing W.O.R.K.S.

Received my Level 2 Reiki Certificate in October 2015.

I practice most days, but when the pain shows up, I practice more intensely.  B.O.O.M  - the pain is gone.  I believe in energy work with my whole heart and soul.  Give it a try.

TAKING LIVES

5 Stars!

A female detective on the trail of a psychotic killer discovers love in a dangerous time in this thriller.   Illeana Scott (Angelina Jolie) is a special agent with the FBI who has a reputation for using offbeat methods, but also boasts a strong record as a criminal profiler. Scott is called in by a former Quantico colleague (Tcheky Karyo) to assist two Canadian police detectives, Paquette (Olivier Martinez) and Duval (Jean-Hugues Anglade), who are on the trail of a serial killer who has been doing business in and around Montreal for close to two decades. The murderer has a history of assimilating many aspects of the lives of his victims after he kills them, but there's been a witness to his most recent crime. Art gallery owner James Costa (Ethan Hawke) saw the killer during an assault, and now finds himself working as an only marginally willing decoy for Scott. As Scott and Costa follow the killer's trail, they find themselves becoming attracted to one another, which is not necessarily a comfort to Scott as she finds her quarry moving closer and closer. Taking Lives also stars Kiefer Sutherland and Gena Rowlands.

How Successful People Think

Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life

(Resource: John C. Maxwell's "How Successful People Think")

Good thinkers are always in demand! (Introduction page).  Love this statement - so simple.

It's hard to overstate the value of changing your thinking (pg x).

  1. Changed thinking is not automatic
  2. Changed thinking is difficult
  3. Changed thinking is worth the investment.
How to become a better thinker:

  1. Expose yourself to good input
  2. Expose yourself to good thinkers
  3. Choose to think good thoughts
  4. Act on your good thoughts
  5. Allow your emotions to create another good thought
  6. Repeat the process.
More to come as I continue to read. . . . . .

Inside Cover and photo pages (sorry for the glare but the light just insisted on bouncing off the plastic photo holder pages)

Best Class Ever!!!  $30 ALL (yes ALL) supplies included!  We did get to choose our own paper for the outside and inside covers and the binding.  When we arrived at class our stations were ALL SET UP with all our supplies packaged neatly for us!  Plus and ladies this is a major plus - the book covers were already measured and cut for us! (And we all know what a difficult chore that is!).  What a deal!  Can hardly wait to take another class!  Oh My!
