I love to Quilt . . .

Colorado Beauty Square

Squint your eyes and you can see a pinwheel in the center of the block.

I had purchased a block of fat quarters last year and couldn't decide what to do with them.
I saw a quilt with this pattern.

ehh.

I have pulled out my stitches about 6 times in this one square.  Yeah I am NOT a perfectionist but I had to at least put the square together right.

I'm happy I did.

Now that I did one complete square, I am hoping there will be less mistakes.

Here's a look!

It looks like newspaper but it is not.  Its fabric with lots of love words on it!  I will post more squares as I put them together!

Lots. Of. Fun.

I Love to Quilt!

Crazy Quilt

I've done two crazy quilts before - maybe you have seen them posted on here.  But I have never embellished one and have collected books for years in an effort to persuade myself to do this.

Last week at my local quilt shop where my sewing circle meets, the owner told me they were forming a group to put together crazy quilts.  Ears perked up!

"The kits are FREE", she said.
Huh?

The kits are free, but you must add the embellishments.  We will meet once a month and at the end of a year you will have enough squares (13 x 13) to put together a good size quilt.

Well  . . . . really . . . .  seriously . . . .

Of course I jumped on this.

So the way it works is every month you recieve a kit with enough fabrics of similar colors and a piece of muslin to use as a foundation for placing the fabics in a scrappy, crazy pattern of your choice.  Your square must be 13 x 13.

Then you can add hand embellishments ONLY in the colors that are in the fabric pieces.

Any type embellishments.  Any mixture of embellishments.

You recieve points for your progress.  The one with the most points at the end of the 12 months chooses the stack of squares in the color (one color only) of her choice!  F.U.N.

Here is my first block.  I decided to only embellish with embroidery.

So. Much. Fun!

Another Quilt

I just love making quilts.  I am not sure why exactly.
I mean really - honestly - how many quilts can one person have?
But this year I made hmmm maybe about 11 quilts - finished quilts!  I have been
quilting since 1990 so you do the math!

Some of them I pass on to friends.  Family has definately received more than they ever wanted!  And now my collection continues to grow!

Here's my latest one.  It is a scrappy quilt.  Some quilters call it a crazy quilt.  It has scrap fabrics from many of the quilts and purses I made for my granddaughters, and a few scrapes from just quilts I made for myself.

Here it is!

It is very cheerful and colorful!  Another of my quilts that I must say I just love!

Textile Art; Needle Work - T-Shirt Quilt

Needlework is another term for the handicraft of decorative sewing and textile arts. Anything that uses a needle for construction can be called needlework. The definition is often expanded to include craft using a long and thin tool, such as crochet hook and tatting shuttles.

Before the free motion quilting was completed.  This was my first T-shirt quilt and I absolutely love the way it turned out!

Contemporary Art Works by Theresa - A Note to My Readers. . .

Note to my Readers

I haven't been posting for a while but will soon be back once I catch up with things.  Along with my travel and art work, I have returned to quilting and sewing and have been consumed with my love for all these creative enjoyments.   In 2015 I pieced and quilted SEVEN quilts!  Call me crazy!

And so enters another interest - a new one for me!  Photography!  I have made a major investment (well, for me and my budget that is) in a Nikon D7200 and I am in love!  I am in the process of taking an on-line course.  For my Houston area friends who are familiar with our landscape, I hope to find the time to go to Rice University in March for an 8 week course.

So here's my promise - I will be catching up on all my posting real soon!  I will be adding more quilts and some photography!
